Campuswide License to RefWorks Software

The bibliographic management software RefWorks is now freely available to the entire UCI campus community via a campuswide site license paid for by the UCI Libraries.

This easy-to-use web application enables students and researchers to collect and manage citations of all kinds, format them based on any of 800 predefined styles, and quickly create a bibliography. It is one of very few products of its kind accessible via the Internet. In addition, the WriteNCite feature enables incorporation of within-text footnotes and references with automatic formatting, and to include those sources in the bibliography.

Examples of how researchers can take advantage of RefWorks include:

Create files and download into them citations from a variety of sources, including websites, RSS feeds, PDF files, and library holdings databases such as WorldCat.

Remove exact and close-match duplicates.

Automatically format citations in a specific format (predefined or self-created) to create a bibliography or list of references.

Write and cite sources within the text, formatting them for within-text use as well as in the bibliography.

Change the output style as needed in order to re-use the bibliography in a context requiring a specific style.
