In the fall 2006 issue of Update we announced six successful recent recruitments for new librarians. Four additional positions have since been filled in archives, acquisitions, education, French & Italian and Classics, and even more new staff are on the way.
Michelle Light is Archivist in Special Collections and Archives. She has two master's degrees from the University of Michigan, in Information (specializing in archives and records management) and History, as well as a B.A. from the University of Oregon. She comes to UCI from the University of Washington, having held previous positions at Northeastern and Yale. Her varied experience has made her expert in university archives, records management, management of born-digital archival materials, and digital library projects. Her record of professional accomplishment includes publications, frequent conference papers, and active leadership in the Society of American Archivists.

Keith Powell
Head of Acquisitions
Keith Powell became Head of Acquisitions in November. He holds an M.A. in History from UC Santa Barbara and an M.S.I.S. from the University of Tennessee. His experience includes eleven years in acquisitions and serials at UCSB, four years at Alabama State University, and the last five years as Regional Sales Manager with Ambassador Books & Media, a materials vendor to academic libraries. Powell’s wide experience provides him with a broad perspective on the dynamic world of acquisitions in the academic library setting.

Dana Scott Peterman
Education
Dana Scott Peterman joins UCI as Research Librarian for Education. He holds two master’s degrees from UCLA: an M.A. in Education and an M.L.I.S. from the Department of Library and Information Science. From 2003 to 2006 he was Social Science Librarian for Psychology and Education and Coordinator of Access Services for the Social Science Libraries and Information Services at Yale, prior to which he worked at the ERIC Clearinghouse for Community Colleges at UCLA.

Kristin Andrews
French & Italian and Classics
Kristin Andrews has been appointed Research Librarian for French & Italian and Classics. She holds an M.L.S. from the University of North Carolina and a B.A. with a dual major in French and Classical Studies from Hamilton College. Andrews also has a Certificat pratique de Langue française, earned during a junior year abroad program in France. Her previous positions were at the University of North Carolina.
