James Galbraith, Head of Collections

James Galbraith has been appointed Head of Collection Development, in which he will coordinate the collecting activities of all research librarians and manage the library collections budget.

Galbraith comes to UCI from Wake Forest University, where he had been Head of Collection Management since 2005. In earlier positions he was Assistant Director for Collection Development at Columbia University, Electronic Resources and Reference Librarian at Columbia’s Business & Economics Library, and Business Librarian at both Michigan State and the University of Oregon.

He received a Master of Library and Information Science degree from SUNY Buffalo, an M.A. in History from the University of Illinois, Chicago, and a B.A. in History from SUNY Buffalo.

Robert Johnson, Nursing & Allied Health

Robert Johnson has accepted the position of Research Librarian for Nursing and Allied Health, the first appointee in support of this new program in the College of Health Sciences. His home department is Science Library Reference.

He comes to UCI from Virginia Commonwealth University, where he was Education Services Librarian, providing instruction and research support for the medical center. Earlier he was at the University of Minnesota’s Bio-Medical Library in a variety of positions.

Johnson holds a Master of Library and Information Science degree from Dominican University in Illinois. His B.A. from the University of Minnesota is in English Literature.
