Before the BookFor many centuries prior to the 15th-century invention of books printed on paper, people invented both textual and pictorial scripts, which they used to record information on materials such as clay, stone, papyrus, tree bark, and treated animal skins. The exhibit opens with several examples of these early modes of recorded communication. |
