Building Special Collections: New Librarians Highlight Recent Acquisitions

The Libraries’ spring exhibition featured a presentation by three speakers who will bring to life the ultimate purpose of our library resources: to inspire and inform students and scholars as they teach, learn, and create new knowledge. Carole Autori described her research project for a recent course in Chicano/Latino history; Jessica Haile discussed her work with the Jacques Derrida Papers; and Lynn Mally shared some of her techniques for inspiring students through the use of primary sources in class assignments.

Building Special Collections was curated by seven new librarians, and highlights some of the exciting rarities acquired by Special Collections and Archives in recent years. It features a selection of rare books and archival materials on dance history, contemporary American literature, photography between the World Wars, African American icons, stage choreography, California fine printing and UCI student publications.
