For general information on how to find magazine and journal articles, see the Libraries’ Workshop to Find Articles in Databases
To look for articles in journals, newspapers, or magazines, you will usually need to start with an article database which is sometimes called an index. An index will allow you to look for article citations by subject, by author, or by a few keywords which describe your topic. The UC Irvine Libraries Libraries Research Guides will help you identify indexes that provide coverage of your topic. Each research guide includes a section on How To Find Articles in that subject area.
Look carefully at the database description, paying close attention to the dates of coverage, to determine if the article database will help you find articles written during the time period you are interested in. Although search interfaces differ, article databases will offer you the option to limit your results by publication date.
