The UC Irvine Libraries' collections support the teaching and research mission of the campus. We recognize that the diverse community the Libraries serve needs inclusive collections which are a foundation for learning and a basis for the creation of new knowledge.
UC Irvine Libraries hold more than 5.2 million volumes and provide access to approximately 410,000 print and online journals and scholarly resources. The Libraries also maintain a collection of 2.2 million microforms as well as more than 290,000 cartographic and graphic materials, computer files, audio recordings, films, and videos.
These collections are found through our online catalog, UC Library Search, and housed at Langson Library (arts and humanities, social sciences, and special collections), Grunigen Medical Library (Orange Medical Campus), Science Library (science, technology, and medicine), the Multimedia Resources Center (technology equipment), and UC shared storage facilities.
Collection development and collection management strategies are outlined in this Guiding Principles for the UC Irvine Libraries Collection.
